The RPS Conversation – Composers
In the next instalment of the RPS Conversation, the focus is on writing music in these extraordinary times. It brings together composers Sir James MacMillan, Roxanna Panufnik, Daniel Kidane who wrote for the 2019 BBC Last Night of the Proms, and Hannah Conway who writes extensively in community settings, notably working with homeless people in her role as Creative Director of Streetwise Opera. They talk about how lockdown differs from the usual isolation of working as a composer, and discuss how - as the sound of the world has changed - the sound of music may change too. https://royalphilharmonicsociety.org.uk/corona/the-rps-conversation/composers
Join the RPS online tonight for their annual awards show at 7pm UK time. The Royal Philharmonic Society Awards celebrate the treasured role that classical music plays in our lives.
Wholly reimagined for presentation online, the RPS hope this year’s awards go some way to remind people what a vital force classical music truly is. ABRSM is proud to be sponsoring the Impact award. Watch the broadcast at royalphilharmonicsociety.org.uk
